It has been awhile since I have photographed a session in downtown LA. Now I remember why I love it so much. So many options!!! I could wander for hours and with a couple as fun and easy going as Amber and Jose, it isn't work at all. I can't wait for your wedding next weekend.

Heather and Wes- Engagement Session- Ventura

I always love beach engagement session where we have a pier as an option. It just adds so much more depth to the photos. Heather and Wes were incredibly comfortable in front of the camera. It should be obvious with all the great photos we were able to capture.

Jenna and Peter- Engagement Session- Venice and Pepperdine

This engagement session took me from the streets of Venice to a gorgeous view of the ocean from Pepperdine University. This is the spot where Peter proposed marriage. I can see now why he chose here. Beautiful.

Kasi and Mark- Engagement Session- High Street Moorpark

As long as I've been doing photography, I have wanted to do an engagement session on High Street in Moorpark. Kasi and Mark suggested it and I jumped at the opportunity. Love the history and textures of high street. Thanks for a great shoot guys.

Bianca and Giovanni- Engagement Session- South Coast Botanical Gardens

Wow, what a location. So many great backgrounds and some incredible light for this engagement session. Thanks for the idea guys. It was worth the drive.

Krista and Brock- Engagement Session- Griffith Park and Observatory

Krista and Brock love the outdoors and to hike and camp so I figured what better way to incorporate their love than to take their engagement pictures in that setting. Griffith park is perfect for that because you would never really know that we are smack dab in the middle of LA with all the trees.

Kelly and Mike- Engagement Session- Griffith Park and Observatory

Kelly and Mike are just fun people. They know how to have a good time with each other and just life in general.

I can't wait for their wedding in May, it's gonna be....well, fun!!!

Annie and Ryan- Engagement Session- Bridlewood Winery

Bridlewood winery is the spot that Ryan propsed marriage to Annie so it seemed so appropriate to have their engagement session there. Plus, my wife and I are always up for a winery visit. Really loved the winery and it surrounding area.

Maggie and Jerrad- Engagement Session- Ventura

Maggie and Jerrad chose Ventura for their engagement session. Ventura is a place that they frequently go on dates to. This is so important and I always tell my couples to pick a place that is special to them. Makes the pictures just that much more special and relaxing. Maggie also pulled off the classic look very well. Love these pics.

Jennifer and Corey- Engagement Session- Cornell Winery

Jen and Corey had this great opportunity to not only get their engagement pictures but also get some family photos with Corey's son. What a great location and great light for some incredible and fun pictures with the couple and family.

Jaimi and Brian- Engagement Session- Santa Barbara

I love Santa Barbara. And to be able to do an engagement session in Santa Barbara with some really cool people? Even cooler! Often times I am asked what my favorite spots to shoot are at certain locations. My answer? Wherever the light leads me. Lighting and background are different every day, so I like to just show up and follow my eye to the pleasing backgrounds with gorgeous light and let my clients seamlessly mix in.

Amanda and Mike- Engagement Session- El Matador State Beach

This is a perfect example of a couple that didn't want to do an engagement session at first, but after I talked to them about the importance of it, agreed to it. They were both super uncomfortable with the camera but you couldn't tell from the photos. It's a combo of making them feel comfortable with me not only as a person but their photographer. Once they think of me as "Toby" and not "The Photographer", they both relax and just have fun with it.

Deb and Ryan- Engagement Session- Laguna Beach

We went to Laguna Beach for Deb and Ryan's engagement pictures. Ryan proposed at the Surf and Sand Club so we figured, what better place for their engagement photos. The one consistent thing I always love about the beach is that it is always a relaxed environment for pictures. It really helps the couple feel comfortable with the camera and makes for some great photos.

Christina and Todd- Engagement Session- Santa Monica

Engagement sessions at the beach are always best if coupled with some near by city photos.

The contrast of the pretty beach with the urban city feel always make for a great set. Thanks for a great afternoon Chris and Todd.

Scott and Chelsi- Engagement Session- UCLA

UCLA is one of my favorite spots for engagement sessions. Love the old brick buildings and there is always pretty light as the sun goes behind the hills and trees.Scott and Chelsi were so relaxed and very easy to photograph. They just get each other.

Jordan and Jordan - Engagement Session - Downtown Los Angeles

No there is not an echo in here. This is Jordan and Jordan. Not only a really cool couple but very happy people in life and with each other. I ran into an issue while working with these two in that each time I would say "Jordan, look over here" or "Jordan, look at the camera and Jordan look at Jordan", well you get where I am going with this. So to solve this problem, I was told to call boy Jordan by his last name, which is Sugar. So now it turned into "Jordan look over there and Sugar you look at me" Lots of laughs....I missed shooting in downtown LA. So many great buildings and landmarks. I need to go back soon. Thanks!!!

Aimee and Shayne - Engagement Session - Carpenteria

These photos are a perfect example that overcast lighting is gorgeous for photos. Aimee and Shayne were a bit worried when we showed up to the beach for their engagement photos and it was hazy and overcast. The pictures turned out great and Aimee and Shayne were super easy to work with and can't wait for their wedding in Fallbrook. See you guys soon!!

Laura and Greg - Engagement Session - Griffith Observatory

The beauty of shooting at Griffith Observatory is that you have Griffith park right next to it. Laura and Greg were a bit concerned with the overcast weather, but as you can see, it makes for beautiful light when taking pictures. We had a great time moderately hiking through the hills and then finished up at the Observatory.

Rachael and Matt - Engagement Session - Santa Barbara

We were able to find some new spots in addition to some of my old favorites in Santa Barbara for this engagement session. Rachael and Matt were so easy to work with and I can't wait for their wedding in June. Thanks guys.
